Bloody Buron: 'The Main Event' AAR

Game: Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy

It is the 8th of July, 1944. OPERATION CHARNWOOD is underway. I fill the shoes (or rather, boots) of a young Major leading A Coy, of the Highland Light Infantry of Canada (HLIC), heading towards the meat grinder that would ultimately be referred to as 'Bloody Buron' in many unit diaries. Our task: to break into and secure the eastern portion of Buron.

Riflemen from the HLIC storm a house under the cover of smoke; a Sherman from the Fort Garry Horse keeps vigil down the town road.

The stage is set for one of the more interesting standalone small unit scenarios.  Much like the historical action the battle rapidly descends into butchery, albeit at less a cost than my countrymen suffered in reality: where companies like the one I command here suffered up to 60% losses.
